I was able to travel to China in 2006 with a Worldwide trip organized by Warren Wilson College. It was an amazing experience. This photo has a long story that would probably be better suited for a blog post. We were taken on a tour from the university to a factory outside of town. Pretty strange experience. The owner was interested in influencing us and impressing us with the factory but we were all fairly shocked at the conditions. There were abandoned buildings outside of the factory where people were living yet the owner was driving a brand new Mercedes out front. The room in this photo encompassed all of that for me. It was filled as far as you could see with sewing machines. I have never heard anything as loud as that room. It was very hot and no one had any ear protection on. A somber experience for sure.
