This night came a little too early in my photography career. If I knew what I know now about photography, I could have captured so many incredible photos that night. To go punny, I was basically shooting in the dark. But even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes (right??).

Anyhow, I was working at Camp Albemarle and was in my first year of shooting proper photos. This storm worked its way across Atlantic Beach on the other side of the sound. It went on for about two hours and never rained on our side. I zoomed in and basically tried to guess where the lightning would strike. I ended up with three great shots. This is one of them.

Side note: I actually never even knew about this photo until almost five years later. My Photoshop and Lightroom skills became much more advanced and I was able to “save” this photo from being overexposed. Good find while digging through the archives!
